Request Information! Schedule a Visit! Chat with a Counselor! Most high school students browsing college websites move on without ever clicking on any of those big, bright, call-to-action buttons. A key challenge for college enrollment officers is getting prospective students to engage by clicking on something.

A new call-to-action no college had tried until this school year is making a difference. It says, “Get a personalized video made just for you!”

Never mind the cutting-edge technology and that makes this possible. The fact is, Real-Time Personalized Web Video pushes the buttons of GenZ students.

Take it from an enrollment officer who knows this age group well: “Real-time video provides what this generation is used to getting online — instant gratification. They want the answer now, and they want to see it, not read it,” says Brian Matzke, vice president of enrollment at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The call-to-action appears on a pop-up alongside a simple question, such as, “What area of study are you most interested in?” The student chooses one from the list. The customizable interface typically asks two more questions, requests the student’s name and, optionally, their contact information, then prompts: “Get Your Video!”

Right then and there, an engaging video delivers customized content on what the college offers in the categories they selected.

Working with Allied Pixel to create the videos was easy, Matzke says. “They asked very good questions to understand what makes Aquinas unique, reworked video we already had, and came back with a first draft that was 95% ready to go live. I was very impressed.”

Matzke was particularly pleased that cookies can be set to expire at the end of each day. That means students can re-watch the categories they explored on day one, but if they want to explore differently on day two, they can do so by choosing different categories.
