History

A long and storied past.

The history of Allied Pixel is really the history of two companies.

Haley Productions

Haley Productions was founded by Bill Haley in 1993. Bill's background was in the radio industry. He had served as promotion director for WEAZ-FM (now B-101) in Philadelphia, and before that, in sales at WDEL/WSTW in Wilmington. Haley Productions was created as a boutique production company, producing TV commercials and promotional videos for radio stations throughout the country.

In 1994, the company ventured into the fledgling multimedia field. Haley Productions produced an interactive sales presentation for WJMN-FM in Boston, which was the first of its kind for the radio industry. The idea caught on, and within two years, Haley Productions was creating interactive, laptop-based sales presentations for radio stations around the country.

Meanwhile, Bill set his sights on the Internet. Pete Bretz joined the company, heading up the web effort. In 1995, Haley Productions developed its first radio station website. This new medium proved to be a natural fit for radio, and soon web development became a major part of the business.

As our reputation grew, we began to gain notice outside the radio business. In 1996, the company was commissioned to produce a high profile video for the soon-to-be-constructed $300 million Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. That same year, the company also produced its first medical interactive CD-ROM, which demonstrated a new surgical device.

And so the company grew, adding staff and developing technical expertise. By 1998, Haley Productions had earned a reputation for innovation for its work at the convergence of video, interactive multimedia and the web.

By 2007, Haley Productions was doing work at both the regional and national levels, and had garnered dozens of industry awards. Its next challenge was to incorporate HD video into its web and interactive work. It turned to a leader in the HD field: RSVP.

RSVP

Real Solutions for Visual Projects, Inc was founded in 1983 by Ron Smiley. He was joined by Brian Connor in 1984. At that time the company had two main areas of concentration – Production and Broadcast Equipment Rentals. Production was focused mainly on broadcast television at both the local and national levels. This is where our legendary efficiency and creative problem solving skills were honed. Our crews quickly gained a reputation of quality people with top notch gear that never missed a deadline.

In 1992 Brian Connor bought out the company and quickly set about to re-branding and changing the focus of production to high end corporate work. Along the way he was lucky enough to be joined by many "quality first" minded staff people who are still with us today. With their help and that of some remarkably loyal clients, RSVP greatly expanded its rental offerings and production services.

Never content with the status quo, RSVP set out to pioneer new approaches to video production and post. This led them to be the first to take a cinematic approach to video. They were the first to offer 16x9 production, Digital Betacam , SDI Avid editing, hardware-based real time encoding from SDI and HD production & post to the Philadelphia market. They look to technology for better ways of doing things not to be part of a fad.

This ever-driving mission to offer their clients/partners more and better approaches to achieve their project goals is what truly set RSVP apart.

Allied Pixel

On January 1, 2008, Haley Productions and RSVP merged to become Allied Pixel. Now, a new chapter is being written.
